SFS Discussion #23

  • 320 16th Ave Seattle, WA, 98102 United States (map)

Mon Oncle (1958)

This April, our film discussion group will be stumbling, bumbling, and mumbling our way through the classic French comedies of the singular Jacques Tati! An influence on directors ranging from Wes Anderson to David Lynch, Tati's composition-heavy style and Keaton-esque sight gags lent themselves to contrasting studies of flailing modernity that is as politically potent as it is light on its feet.

  • Moderator: Laura Paul

  • Meeting Time: 6pm

  • Place: 320 16th Ave, Seattle WA 98122

  • Where to Watch: Available to stream on Max and Criterion, and available for rental on Amazon, Apple, and Google.

These are energetic, film-school style discussions where the goal is simply to gain a better understanding of the film itself. Feel free to come prepared with notes, questions, and thoughts about the film- and you're still welcome to join even if you haven't seen the film. See you there!
