About the Director

Drew Highlands is a film and stage actor, director, writer, and producer. He trained at Cornish College of the Arts, earning his BFA in stage acting with a focus on playwriting and directing. From Mississippi to Florida, Drew honed his storytelling skills from a young age, using humor and honesty to captivate his family in rural America. His filmmaking philosophy is to create films that address taboo subjects by presenting them as normal, often humorous, and relatable narratives. Drew aims to build trust with the audience before delving into deeper discussions through his work, exemplified in his autobiographical short film "In the Water."
