Mikiech Nichols

Mikiech Edwards Nichols was born in Frankfurt, Germany, but moved to the United States with his American mother before he was even a year old. His mother fueled helicopters for the U.S. Army until shortly after his birth, while little is known about his German father other than the fact that he was in a biker gang called "The Nomads". Although his name is a misspelling of what it ought to be, Mikiech was named after a character from a 1930s Czechoslovakian children's book about a cat that talks and rides a motorcycle (in Germany the book is called "Kater Mikesch"). Growing up on the west coast of the U.S., he was obsessed with drawing and writing short stories and comic books, which eventually developed into a passion for filmmaking. In 2006, he graduated from Vancouver Film School in Vancouver, BC, Canada, but spent some years afterwards writing and performing music for the bands "Mysterious Chocolate" and "The Screaming Multitudes". In 2013 he starred in Aaron Beckum's award-winning short film, "Night Giant", and from 2012-2015 he starred as the character Ethan in the independently-produced web-series "Real Adult Feelings". In 2017, he directed the darkly comic short film, "Moron", and in 2023 released "Mountainside", his feature directorial debut, which he also wrote and starred in.
